Youna Jung immigrated from South Korea in 2000. Growing up as an English learner and as a child of immigrants herself, she knows firsthand some of the struggles and difficulties of assimilating into a new country and new culture. She currently serves the EL community in Montgomery County as a high school ESOL teacher and shares her unique experiences as a former EL with her students. Youna earned her bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Linguistics as well as certification in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. After earning her endorsement in TESOL, she started working as an ESOL teacher in 2019. She is currently pursuing her M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction Teacher Leadership- TESOL Specialization from the University of Maryland, College Park.
