Hector Chica immigrated from El Salvador in 2005. Hector attended third to twelfth grade in Prince George’s County Public School system (PGCPS), where he was an ESOL student from third to sixth grade. He earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Prince George’s Community College and is a “double Terp,” having earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park. While pursuing his college education, Hector worked for PGCPS as a Spanish interpreter. Through this role, he helped schools and staff connect with parents and communities of English Language Learners. Hector has always had a passion for sharing his own story to bring awareness so that others in similar situations as his can get support and help. He now works as an audit associate for CohnReznick LLP, where he hopes to grow his career and give back to his community.
