Chen Chen currently serves as a Chinese Bilingual Family & Community Outreach Facilitator for Anne Arundel County Public School. Her main job responsibility is to assist with the implementation of the county's programs for international families with the goal of developing and maintaining connections between home, school, and community. Helping international students improve their academic achievement and encouraging international parents to become active participants in their children's education through meetings and workshops with parents. Maintains connections with community stakeholders and provides information to language minority families about the availability and use of these community resources. Facilitates communication between school staff and families. Chen Chen came to the United States from China 21 years ago. As a first-generation immigrant, she deeply understands the impact that language and cultural barriers can have on international families and is committed to helping international immigrant families overcome these barriers and help their children achieve academic success. She was selected in the top 5 of the Parent Involvement Matters Award held by the Maryland State Department of Education in 2016.
